Stem Cell Therapy

Stem Cell Therapy

Okay, So Exactly What Is a Stem Cell?

While it occurred years and years ago, the discovery of the stem cell is still incredibly exciting. That’s because stem cells can recreate themselves and transform into a wide variety of cell types within the body. This makes this distinctive cell the perfect repair mechanism.

Stem cells also have endless capacity to divide and, with each new division, can remain a stem cell or transform into another type of cell. Which could suddenly become muscle, blood, hair, skin, ligaments–you name it.

Plasma Platelets and Stem Cells

Turning Platelets and Stems Cells into Therapy

These procedures use our own platelets and cells, eliminating the risk of an allergic reaction and reducing the risk of infection associated with other products.

Types of Therapies:

•  Bone Marrow Concentrate Therapy

The most commonly applied source of stem cells.

•  Platelet Rich Plasma

Derived from the blood, this cellular product has concentrated supply of regenerative growth factors and cytokines.

Myths about Stem Cell Therapy

Five Fallacies about Stem Cell Therapy

While the internet is an incredible fountain of information, it’s also an equally-amazing source of misinformation. So we thought we would ake a moment to lay to rest some common misconceptions that are prevalent out there and the concerns that come with them.

Fallacy #1

Stem Cells Only Come from Embryos

While you can indeed harvest stem cells from human embryos, that’s far from the only place you can get them. As a matter of fact, stem cells can be found all throughout the body. In muscles, bone marrow, tissues, organs and fat. What’s more, the best way to repair a muscle, for instance, is to utilize a stem cell that originated from one.

Fallacy #2

The Only Source for Adult Stem Cells is an Adult

Since stem cells repair and maintain tissue in a very mature way, they have often been referred to as “adult.” But even a newborn fresh from the womb can garner adult stem cells.

Fallacy #3

Stem Cells Will Inevitably Lead to Human Cloning

Again, not only is this patently untrue, human cloning is expressly forbidden by law. A limited kind of cloning is admissible in a handful of countries, but the U.S. isn’t one of them. Also, this use is extremely limited. Its only use for studying diseases and advancing the success of organ donations.

Fallacy #4

Studying and Using Stem Cells in the U.S. is Illegal

Not only is the information erroneous, the National Institutes of Health have actually worked hand-in-hand with the U.S. government to make stem cell research and therapy both lawful and accepted.

Fallacy #5

Stem Cells Run the Risk of Being Rejected by the Body

Unlike organ donations that come from somebody else’s body, stem cells typically come from your own. Consequently, there is virtually no risk of rejection or infection.
